Deep Dive, a newspaper by young people for young people about mental health, has hit the streets in Wodonga.
About 25 local young people contributed to the newspaper, which was driven by 18-year-old Artistic Director Corey Taylor.
Deep Dive is a joint project of the Ovens Murray Regional Partnership, Junction Support Services, City of Wodonga and Department of Health and Human Services.
“Deep Dive is about hearing the voices of young people in the Wodonga community and their experiences of mental health,” Project Co-ordinator Rachel Habgood, of Junction Support Services, says.
“The resilience and determination of the young people who contributed to this newspaper and the obstacles they have faced and continue to overcome in their lives has touched everyone associated with this project.”
Ovens Murray Regional Partnership Chair Irene Grant says: “The Regional Partnership is really pleased to be part of this fantastic project. Through the Deep Dive newspaper, a group of creative young people in the Wodonga community have generously shared their stories, tips and views about mental health and wellbeing.
“Deep Dive will assist community members, service providers and others to better understand the mental health experiences and needs of vulnerable young people and will inform Regional Partnership action to support future improvements to youth mental health in the region.”
