Road Ready Program (Albury)
Funded by the NSW Government’s ‘Our Region, Our Voice’ Regional Youth Investment Program, the Road Ready Program supports disadvantaged learner drivers between 16 to 24 years of age in getting their NSW P1 Probationary Licence. Learners who do not have access to a supervising driver and/or adequate vehicle are encouraged to apply.
Learner Drivers:Â
Learner drivers are provided with up to 7 paid driving lessons with a registered NSW driving instructor. Once the learner has been assessed by a driving instructor and developed basic driving skills, they will be matched with a fully licenced and trained Volunteer Mentor Driver, who will supervise them while they get their required 120 driving hours. Learners and mentors will be provided with a fully insured and maintained vehicle to complete driving sessions.
If you would like to apply as a Learner, please ensure you meet the following criteria and complete the Learner Application Form in the Resources section below:
- Have a NSW Learner’s Permit
- Be aged 16-24 years old
- Have limited (or no) access to an adequate vehicle and/or
- Have limited (or no) access to a supervising driver
Volunteer Mentor:Â
The role of the Volunteer Mentor Driver is not the same as a Driving Instructor. They take on a supervisor role and will collaborate with the Driving Instructor and the Program Coordinator to support their sessions with the Learner.
If you are interested in becoming a Volunteer Mentor you must have, or be willing to obtain, the following:
- A current full drivers licence
- A National Police Check
- A NSW Volunteer Working with Childrens Check
- A driving history check
You also must be willing to complete the free Mentor training provided by Junction Support Services.
