Thank you Share the Dignity!

Everyone at Junction Support Services was excited to distribute Share the Dignity donations. Tim volunteered to be chief handbag carrier.

Thank you Share the Dignity for donating gifts that just keep giving to women in need across north-east Victoria.

Junction Support Services was thrilled to accept 50 wonderful handbags, containing essentials such as personal hygiene products and a few little luxuries, to deliver to women in need.

The delivery was part of Share the Dignity’s “It’s in the Bag” campaign in which individual women and community groups, like the Inner Wheel Club of Wodonga, donate good condition handbags that are filled with essential products.

Our Families and Children’s Specialist Services Team co-ordinated the special deliveries and has since received wonderful feedback from recipients.

We gave many of the bags to children so they would have something to give their mum at Christmas and we were touched by what some of the youngsters had to say…

A six-year-old girl told us: “Mum cried happy tears when we gave her a present.”

A 13-year-old girl said: “It is the first present I have been able to give Mum in years.”

The children also liked that our staff wrapped bags in white butcher’s paper so they could decorate the wrapping paper themselves so give it a personal touch.

Thanks to all who donated at Share the Dignity collection points.

Share the Dignity is a national charity that collects thousands of pads, tampons and personal hygiene products every year for women experiencing homelessness and poverty.

Please look for collection points at supermarkets and shopping centres or visit sharethedignity.com.au to find out more.
