WISE stands for Work Readiness, Inclusion, Skills Development, and Education Reengagement Program. Wodonga-based, it is designed to offer tailored support, mentoring, and capacity building through individualised and group-based activities for young people aged up to 20 years who have received a Victorian Early School Leaver Exemption and identify as requiring additional support. This program is structured to meet the unique needs and interests of each young person, fostering personal growth and development. Young people will receive support to identify their goals and to achieve them, through 1:1 mentoring and group work activities. Activities are designed to build confidence, develop skills, and foster personal growth through the application of the 5Cs under the Positive Youth Development Framework.
The WISE Program is a specialised support initiative under the Victorian Early School Leavers Connection Initiative (VELCI), designed to help early school leavers remain engaged in education and training. As part of the VELCI program, dedicated Career Advice Services (CAS) are available to assist young people in pursuing educational, training, and employment opportunities that align with their strengths and interests. In Wodonga, the Skills and Jobs Centre provides the CAS support for VELCI.
