Wodonga Education First Youth Foyer

The Education First Youth (EFY) Foyers program is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness by supporting young people aged 16 to 24 in building secure and sustainable futures. By providing stable housing, dedicated coaching, and a range of opportunities, EFY Foyers help young people develop the skills needed for independent and productive lives. More than just accommodation, EFY Foyers create an integrated learning environment, focusing on education, training, and employment pathways through an Advantaged Thinking approach.

The Education First Youth Foyer in Wodonga, set to open in 2025, will support up to 40 young people who are unable to live at home, helping them achieve their education and career goals. This initiative is a partnership between Wodonga TAFE, Junction Support Services, Brotherhood of St Laurence, and Beyond Housing.

The Education First Youth Foyer Experience:

The Wodonga Education First Youth Foyer provides young people with the resources, support, and opportunities they need to build independent and fulfilling lives. Students receive:

  • Skills and guidance to pursue their goals and aspirations
  • Access to education, training, and employment pathways
  • Safe, secure, and affordable accommodation for up to two years
  • 24/7 on-site support from dedicated staff
  • The opportunity to develop independence through the Wodonga Tafe Certificate I in Developing Independence
  • A chance to connect with peers and engage with the wider community
  • Opportunities to take part in community activities
  • Assistance in finding stable housing when transitioning to independent living

Each young person has their own fully furnished studio apartment, complete with a kitchenette, bathroom, and study area. Shared facilities include a laundry, communal kitchen, and recreation and study spaces, fostering both independence and a sense of community.
