The Family Services Specialist Disability Practitioner roles aims to increase the knowledge and understanding of disability-specific requirements within the Family Services sector. The purpose of the role is to build the capacity of Family Services practitioners across Ovens Murray to work effectively with disability-related support needs. The Specialist Disability Practitioner provides secondary consultation regarding; NDIS eligibility and application processes, navigating the NDIS, preparing for an NDIS planning meeting, how to manage NDIS funding effectively, handling NDIS reviews or appeals, and much more.

The Specialist Disability Practitioner also works directly with families, providing support to vulnerable children, young people and families with disability-related support needs. This could include accessing supports and participating effectively in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
