This week, Junction Support Services executives had a first-hand look at the soon-to-open Wodonga Education First Youth Foyer.
The Education First Youth Foyer will offer more than just housing. This innovative program represents a transformative opportunity to create positive pathways for education, employment, and independent living for the youth in our community.
“This model has transformed lives across Australia, and we are so proud to be part of this new chapter in Wodonga,” says Junction CEO Megan Hanley.
The site visit and update, led by Beyond Housing Project Manager James Donaldson, coincided with the launch of Junction’s recruitment campaign to provide 24-hour support for the 40 residents.
Junction is building a team of passionate people to help shape this space into a thriving, supportive environment (visit junction.org.au/careers to learn more about current positions available).
Based on the proven and successful Brotherhood of St Laurence model, Wodonga’s Education First Youth Foyer is a collaboration between Junction Support Services, Beyond Housing, Wodonga TAFE and Brotherhood of St Laurence.
Junction Support Services will manage and provide services to support the young people living within the Youth Foyer and Beyond Housing will provide tenancy management for the Youth Foyer.
Construction of the $15.8 million facility at Wodonga TAFE’s McKoy Street started in October 2023.
Thanks to the exceptional work from Premier Building & Construction, the Youth Foyer will open for the first cohort of residents several months earlier than initially planned, sparking excitement and optimism for the project partners.
Junction looks forward to supporting more young people in building strong, thriving communities when the doors open.
