Junction Support Services’ Wangaratta team will use a $750 Community Donation from the Commonwealth Bank to buy blankets and tents for people facing housing instability during the colder months.

This donation comes at a time when winter demand for homelessness assistance in Wangaratta is particularly high.

Nicole McKelvie from Junction’s Wangaratta team said the donation will help them respond quickly and adapt to clients’ needs.

“Local contributions like this can make a real difference, especially in regional communities, where services often have to do more with less to meet growing needs,” Nicole said.

“Wangaratta CommBank’s support highlights the strength of local partnerships and our commitment to ensuring everyone in Wangaratta feels safe, connected, and hopeful about their future.”

The Wangaratta branch chose Junction for the Community Donation because of our long-standing commitment to the local community, particularly to people without a safe or stable place to live.

Branch Manager Racheal Cartwright said the donation shows her team’s appreciation for how Junction responds to local needs.

“Community organisations are essential for helping people when it matters most, and we’re proud to support their work,” Racheal said.

“Our teams live and work in Wangaratta, so they understand local needs and know the organisations that are helping.

Junction provides crisis support, outreach, advocacy, and practical support for people of all ages who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

This includes helping people find safe accommodation, navigate complex systems, reconnect with family or community, and work towards long-term stability.

The donation is part of CommBank’s national Community Donations program, which has run for eight years and supports grassroots organisations making a real difference in their communities.

This year, more than $600,000 will go to community groups across Australia, with local branch teams choosing organisations they see making a real impact.
